Concerning the issues with potential contamination and cross contamination generated by the patient passivly and during professional activities.

Each person will generate by default a certain range of micro droplets just by breathing / speaking – these droplets potentially contain pathogens. Sizes of these droplets vary between 1 micron to 1000+ micron.

Many particuls / droplets are generated by the dentist during professional activities related to the use of drills and polishing tools. Certainly when combined with watercooling / lubricating systems. Patients pathogens will be launched in the surroundings.

The use of personal protection equipments such as masks / faceshileds reduce the exposire of the dentist to these potential pathogen droplets / particles but do not remove them from the air. These pathogens will by consequence be spreaded in the working area of the dentist and will be deposited on surfaces and will form a part of a cross contamination cyclus – affecting the dentist and other persons present in the office.

In order to break this cross contamination cycles as much as possible, lokal extraction and treatment of the extracted air is a method to reduce the amount of generated particles as much as possible. This is a similar method as used in pharmaceutical production facilities clean rooms.

Proposed mobile extraction and filtering systen ( 3 phased filter system).

  • Phase 1 : washable filter for pre treatment of extracted air: removing big particles. Increases life span of phase 2 and 3 filters.
  • Phase 2 removing aerosol droplest.
  • Phase 3 : HEPA filtering – 99,75% filtering of particles up to 0,3micron.
